Our Faculty and Staff
Anita Fitzgerald
Head of Campus
As a parent, it is so important to me that my children learn and grow in an environment that moulds them in every aspect to be the best version of themselves but also a considerate and organised member of society.
Nature has beauty and wisdom and I want to help children appreciate, learn, step back and consider the earth and its ecosystem. It is not an easy road, but it is so important for us to raise a generation that understands the importance of sustaining the world we live in.
My goal is to continue to shape the curriculum and learning outcomes of EcoKids Preschool, EcoKids Primary and EcoCampus to help raise a generation of children who will be ready to make the difference this world desperately needs.
Marianne Moolman
High School Principal and Senior Maths Teacher
I began my teaching career at Martin School, here I was appointed to the position of Head of department Educational Guidance. My passion was however in the Sciences and this led to my appointment as Head of Department Mathematics and Science.
It has been my delight to be involved in the lives of young people, educating them not only for an academic future, but also guiding them to navigate the many social challenges which they will face in the future.
I have seen many of my pupils in successful careers and have also been privileged to teach some of their children.
Dr. Annamarie Horn
Senior Phase Afrikaans Teacher
I obtained my BA-degree as well as my Post Graduate Diploma in Education at the North West University, then still known as the PU for CHO or in brief – PUKKE. I completed my Honours in Education as well as my Masters- and Doctorate degrees in Gestalt Play Therapy through UNISA while I was teaching.
Because my teaching experience stretches over decades I have quite a litany of things to mention. For Afrikaans First Additional language I was Head of Department, Examiner, Internal Moderator and did teacher training across the, then, Transvaal. I was the principal of a high school for thirteen years.
After leaving public education I was involved in the teaching of the NCS-, IEB- and Cambridge curriculums online as well as individually. I did some work for the Universities of Pretoria and Stellenbosch and NOW I am a proud member of the staff of EcoKids Primary and EcoKids Campus.
My greatest professional passion is teaching and my favourite hobby, apart from reading, is gardening. You see: I love to instigate growth, whether in people or in plants.
I love being at EcoKids because being here entails growth in both regards. I find the staff, learners and the parents to be focused at learning and development and at EcoKids the individual is truly the priority.
Claudia Mincione
Senior History Teacher
My journey in education started when I was just a child myself. I was born in Zimbabwe, one of Africa’s most beautiful countries with a history rich in cultural diversity and hardship. The schooling system in Zimbabwe is world-renowned, which I can attest to.
By studying the past, we gain an understanding of the many mistakes that have been made, as well as the effects of these mistakes. We also learn about how things and people have changed over time. This information can open one’s mind to the possibility of change and even empower each generation to do and be better. Who knew that studying a revolution could start one too?
I have made it my life’s mission to educate the youth of today about the wonders of the written word, whether fictional or historical.
Michael Dos Santos
HOD of Technology
I have always viewed education as a gateway, by providing students with a set of keys, teachers are able to help future generations unlock their true potential and have a positive impact on the world around them.
I have worked in the high school education space for the past 7 years teaching mainly Social Sciences in the form of Geography and History. I always tell my students that Social Science is the subject which combines all the other learning areas into one, which in my view, makes it the best!
I am extremely proud to be able to bring my expertise (both inside and outside) of the classroom to EcoCampus and I look forward to the continued growth and development as we build toward a brighter future for the young men and women in our care.
Henry Moolman
Afrikaans, IT and Tech and Social Sciences
I am fortunate enough to be married to the wonderful Principal of our school, Mrs Marianne Moolman. We have a son, a daughter who sadly passed, a beautiful grandaughter and three amazing grandsons together. My family and my faith are my pillars.
My career has spanned forty six incredible years, learning alongside my students. Twenty five of these were spent as Principal at both Public and Private schooling institutions.
EcoCampus is the perfect space for me to impart my knowledge and life experience in a setting that is so conducive for learning I could not resist being drawn back into the classroom. Social Sciences and Technology combine all the wonders of the world that intrigue me and I thoroughly enjoy making these subjects come to life for my students.
When I am not working I am an avid fly-fisherman and camper, I enjoy a good book and maintain a strict fitness regime. I am also an elder at the Benoni Bible Church.
Sandy Seabrook

Clare Emms
Senior Phase English Teacher and FET Phase Life Orientation Teacher
Growing up as a teacher’s daughter, I never expected to go into teaching myself. But then when I left school, I found myself drawn to working with children and discovered so much purpose and passion in education, that I realised it was the only natural progression for my studies.
I obtained my BEd in ECD and Foundation Phase and went on to teach in both public and private schools in Benoni. I then completed my Honours in Psychoeducational Support, in the hopes of working in school guidance and counselling as I saw this as a truly vital part of the support system of the school.
After teaching for seven years, I had my first child and decided to stop teaching for a while to stay at home with my girls during their formative years. During that time, I studied further and began facilitating workshops for parents and teachers in Positive Discipline. I also Founded a non-profit called Consciously Connected, bringing together a dedicated team of conscious professionals who provide support to teachers and parents.
My goal, moving forward at EcoKids and EcoCampus, is to utilise my passion for child development and conscious discipline to hold space for the children in my classroom as they navigate their academic, social and emotional world. I’m ready to learn just as much from the kids as I’m hoping to teach them!
Tracey Spencer
Senior and FET Phase Life Science Teacher
Hi, I’m Tracey Spencer, an educator with an impressive 18-year journey in the field of education. My passion for teaching extends beyond the classroom, as I’m truly dedicated to the growth and well-being of my learners.
I’ve received district awards in recognition of my exceptional work in Life Sciences, a subject that has always been close to my heart.
When I’m not shaping young minds, I’m a proud mother of two amazing boys.
My work ethic is rooted in being hardworking and self-motivated, and I thrive as a team player, fostering an environment filled with laughter and happy moments in the classroom. With my experience and dedication, I aim to make a positive impact on the lives of those I teach.
Natasha Jansen
Intermediate and Senior Phase FAL, Afrikaans and Athletics Specialist
I completed my University Degree in Sport, Health and Leisure Science in 2012. My teaching and coaching career however only started in 2017. I then completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Education majoring in Life Orientation.
I have an enormous love for sport, the outdoors and helping people. These three things have helped shape me into the person I am today and why teaching and coaching sports are so important to me.
Seeing and meeting individuals with different abilities, passions, personalities, strengths, weaknesses, goals and beliefs warms my heart because it is a perfect opportunity for me as a teacher and as a coach, to positively impact, build, motivate, encourage and empower those individuals to become their best possible versions of themselves.
After nearly seven years of teaching and coaching elsewhere, I am truly excited to join the EcoKids team. I look forward to guiding our future leaders into success, happiness and lifelong fulfilment.
Neil Askham
FET Phase Physical Science Specialist Teacher
I am an experienced educator of 33 years. Having started my career at a small Christian school in the Northwest Province, I relocated to Benoni in 1995 to take up a teaching opportunity at one of the local Private Schools – and have been here ever since.
Over the years, I have taught Physical Science in the IEB, CAPS as well as the Cambridge curricula at various schools on the East Rand and have held the position of Deputy Principal and Head of College at various stages in my career.
In 2010 I established a Tutor Centre, called SMArt Centre, which has been providing invaluable support in Science, Mathematics & Accounting, to students from a wide range of schools in the greater East Rand area for the past 14 years. I am incurably passionate about sharing the wonders of Physics & Chemistry with the students I teach and consider it a primary objective to excite & enthuse them about the wonders of the physical world we live in. Many of my students have thrived under my tutelage and have gone on to excel themselves in their various tertiary pursuits.
I am delighted to join EcoCampus, and hope to continue to instill a love for the Sciences in the students I teaches here.
Byron Williamson
Intermediate Phase IT and Life Orientation Teacher
Hi there, my name is Byron Williamson!
I am a psychology and teaching graduate with a passion for education and more so a humanist with a passion for helping others to live their life to their full potential.
This passion led me to the education field. Working with children was a great way, not only to exchange valuable and helpful knowledge, but to also offer guidance where needed and to learn more about ourselves and fulfil our youth’s potential.
My teaching philosophy is about encouraging students to be a role player in their own learning journey. This means adapting and changing styles to best meet each student’s capability.
I also find this humanist passion taking me outdoors and into the garden, learning to grow food sustainably. Tying the environmental awareness in with quality of life and mental health has been an exciting journey.
I have tutored homework classes, counselled families, taught English as a foreign language and even built organic gardens in people’s homes and I am excited to keep expanding in the education field. I joined the EcoKids team in 2023 and haven’t looked back since!
Carin le Roux
FET Phase Maths and Maths Literacy Teacher
I was born of Netherlands parents in Southern Rhodesia, which eventually became Zimbabwe.
I qualified as a Senior School Maths teacher from The Teachers’ College, University if Rhodesia and have taught Maths for over 40 years in Zimbabwe, Mozambique and South Africa, becoming proficient in several syllabi and Maths areas – Cambridge, IEB, AP Maths, NBT’s and SAT’s.
Maths is my passion and it is always my aim to pass on this passion or even part of it.
I have two grown-up sons who have their own little families. My sons have often asked “Mom, do you have to relate everything to Maths?” Answer: ” Yes! because everything is related to Maths”.
In my ‘spare time ‘ I love to go hiking/ walking in the Bush, to become one with Nature. My favourite places are National/Game Parks. I also do distance swimming. I do not have TV, as I would much rather read a good book or do some sewing – embroidery, quilting and anything with intricate detail.
Alexia Rodighiero
Art and Enviro Club
Hello everyone! I’m Alexia but my learners call me Teacher Lexi.
I have a degree in Early Childhood Education. I began my career 2 years ago at EcoKids Preschool and I have been a teacher at Abacus Maths since July of 2022. I have found so many amazing and fun ways to teach maths using a variety of resources and methods to meet the needs of all learners.
Apart from maths my passions lie with Art and Nature!
I absolutely love being creative in all avenues of art and sharing my creative experiences and learnt skills with children. I am thrilled to be teaching Art and Environmental Club at EcoCampus College, where the children and I will be explore our hidden talents, our love for nature, and creative and artistic expressionism through art and our natural environment.
EcoCampus is the perfect environment where my students and I can express ourselves and be surrounded by nature, it is the most relaxed teaching environment where our children thrive and love to just be.
The best part about being a teacher is that I and find myself learning from children just as much as they learn from me! No two days are ever the same, and life is never boring.
Ros Gardiner
Natural Sciences and Life Sciences Teacher
What a privilege it is to be able to share my passion for the natural world with future generations. I have always been intrigued with the workings and the functioning of living organisms, not only as separate entities, but their interconnectedness. Through the Life Science curriculum, I am able to actively engage in developing a sense of wonder and awe in my learners as they learn about the processes of all living things and how this is all relevant to our species and to our environment.
With our planet in such disarray, I feel an incredible responsibility to raise in my learners an awareness of the many environmental concerns which are plaguing planet Earth and hopefully provide them with the skills needed in order for them to contribute to the sustainable future of this planet.
Anne Dunn
FET Phase Accounting Teacher
“A dream come true”.
Teaching was always my passion but I started out in Accounting and Auditing. After 10 years of working in this field, I started my journey in education.
I completed the necessary teaching qualifications to enable me to teach Accounting at a high school level and that was the beginning of a wonderful and fulfilling journey that has enabled me to combine my passion for teaching with my qualification in Accounting.
I have spent 25 wonderful years teaching Accounting. 11 of those years were at Willowmoore High School, 5 at St Marys in Pretoria and 9 at St Benedict’s.
During that time, I also studied Psychology to enable me to have a better understanding of child behaviour.
I have had a truly rewarding time in education and have loved every minute of my journey.
An absolute dream came true when I was given the opportunity to continue my journey teaching Accounting at EcoCampus.
The classroom is my happy space.

Kerri Charalambous
Stage English, Economic Management Science and Business Studies Specialist
I have a passion for holistic, child-centred education, and hold the strong belief that children learn best in a gentle, nurturing and stimulating environment that celebrates their uniqueness. I first earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (HSS) with a specialisation in psychological counselling, and then began my studies in Education, obtaining a PGCE in both the intermediate and senior phases.
I enjoy horse riding, travelling and spending time with my loved ones. Teaching is a calling for me, and I am honoured to be able to watch my students grow and flourish.
Michaela De Beer
Mathematics, Music & Culture
The reason I teach is to hand over the baton of passion to my learners, to teach them to love the subject, and to guide them to be critical thinkers so that they will be able to face any body of knowledge and dissect it, understand it, and apply it to their lives.
According to Vygotsky, learners learn best through social interactions and these interactions are how they understand the world. If I am to build on the learner’s knowledge of the world and allow them the opportunity to explore and make sense of the new content within their contexts, it will be easier for them to remember, understand, and apply this body of knowledge.
What I most enjoy about teaching is getting to know each and every unique person that walks into my classroom. I count it such an honour and blessing to have such an important role in my learners’ lives.
Teresa Edwards
Senior English and Art Teacher
I got my degree in English Literature and Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2006. In 2008, I got my Post Graduate Certifiacte in Education, specializing in the FET Phase. A former principal and mentor of mine once told me that she always liked hiring teachers with a PGCE qualification because then, as she put it, she was hiring teachers who were experts in their particular fields, and that always stuck with me.
I started teaching high school English in 2009 and instantly knew I had “found my place in the world”. When I had my babies, I decided to take a break from the senior English classroom and spent 6 years teaching pre-schoolers which was so rewarding, eye-opening and beneficial. Now that I’m back in the high school classroom, I am reminded why I adored it so much and why this is the only occupation for me – a real calling.
Watching my learners grow a true love and appreciation for the English language and the beauty of the written and spoken word is a privilege that will never grow old for me.
There is nothing that is going to change this world more than communication. And being able to teach my learners to effectively communicate, express themselves and feel confident to speak their minds is how I know I make a difference every day. The idea that “if there are words we don’t know, there are thoughts we cannot think” drives me to strive for greatness in my classroom and my life, for me and all my learners – past, present and future.
Trevor Xaba
Head Coach
I am the proud Head Coach at EcoKids Primary School.
I am a Qualified CAF C Licensed Coach and founder and Head Coach of TX TITANS FOOTBALL ACADEMY. I started my coaching career with Benoni Northerns FC (2016) before starting my own Football Academy (2020).
One of the highlights of my career was going to China for a Football Tournament with Easterns High Schools U/15 team (2019).
I believe all kids deserve equal opportunities. I also believe sports has one language “Fun”. Yes, we all thrive to win but without having fun, we don’t enjoy sports. “Teamwork is Dream work” is my Philosophy. I’m passionate about football development and sports in general.
I also love working with kids and realizing the sporting potential in them.
